Impasse and the treasure within – can you dig it?

Whilst reading the most recent blog offering – from the wonderful website https://zo-diac.com/  zo-diac astrological alchemy the thoughts from the author Zoë Shuttleworth inspired me to ponder (once again) the nuance and machination inside the human condition of the Impasse. For those of us open to the notion of conjecture: the ability to consider ideas other than our own or those adopted by the herd – allows us to include the concept that change is inevitable. Even though acceptance of such brings discomfort – especially when we have just found purchase in an idea/concept or belief that makes sense to/for us. The Libran Way is keeping the scales in balance by allowing the inclusion of/for all points of view – that until shown to be other than – all opinions and viewpoints are equal and worthy of consideration and inclusion into any collective discussion.

Each one of us perceives the ‘World’ (at large) via our own perspectives – lenses that have individual colour, hue, tinted and tainted, eyewear that is biased by scratching, smudging – built up grime from the looking at life. As voyeur/ onlookers we will no doubt view the offered ideas and concepts of others with unconscious judgement confident in the knowledge that our own perspectives are borne of high functioning 2020 vision.

When information is offered to share – to a collective – it can and should arouse discussion and healthy debate. In the search for consensus, benefit or growth the pros and cons of ideas can be weighed, altered and adjusted. But sometimes information that runs counter to staunchly held beliefs can be condemned and discarded. For instance when the groupthink and dogma that underpins a particular ‘Purple Circle’ is challenged the members of the group can become defensive – self-righteous stands are made: my facts are better than your facts – we only accept evidence based argument, blah blah blah the bigger the mouth the smarter the man….. etc.

In our own individual life the decision making process is essentially the same as that used within a group: options, ideas and information is gathered in pursuit of accessing consensus and a way forward. On occasion though this process seems to be of little or no use: suddenly all options and ideas seem equally meritorious or void of any value and conjecture becomes confusion and we find ourselves stuck: we are at an impasse.

What to do? Can this type and level of discomfort yield anything of value?

With the pressure to find ‘A Way’ and invisible deadlines are looming like a charging bull – how do we remain composed and objective?

Is there anything hiding anywhere within this awful situation that could possibly bring benefit?

Surfing the various websites for information regarding the issues associated with the current “pandemic” most contributors and commentators are fixated upon finding ‘solutions’ that will give the affected masses a glimmer of hope for the swift return to ‘normalcy’. It would seem that nobody is enjoying the impasse, fewer still can see the potential available as part of the ‘forced sitting still’. The ‘snoring many’ – the ‘sleeping masses’ chant in unison: “We only want black and white and can’t abide the grey” once again the herd fails to see the obvious: obsessive tunnel vision does not allow for the inclusion of the notion that the so-called ‘normal’ is why/how we arrived at the current situation. Why would any sane person want a return to a situation that yields nothing of value? Taking the typical and passé Man of Action approach – do something/anything – except to sit still will likely see that much sought after ‘return to normal’ state and the opportunity for finding a different and better way – that is the treasure buried with the impasse – squandered like so much pearl to the swine.
