Set in our ways – Total Lunar Eclipse in Taurus November 2022.

Where I live the Lunar Eclipse will occur on the 8th of November – precisely at the time the Moon is bursting its seams. There are some themes (within my zeitgeist at least), that carry over from my recent New Moon in Scorpio article. All those (seemingly) pesky interfering Scorpionic 8th House Plutonic themes – the ‘usual suspects’ are lingering: issues of abandonment and Betrayal (and Victimhood), anything Taboo – Death and Resurrection. Feeling wounded and seeking Regeneration – maybe redemption, Loss and resurgence – maybe recovery – all still seem to me to be at the fore – or maybe it’s just me with Scorpio Moon?

The North Node offer also remains: (for anyone willing to go there) simply because the Full Moon in Taurus is opposite the Scorpio South Node. This is a focal point for me and especially so since Mars has gone retrograde. As part of my chosen lifestyle I walk a few kilometres each day. I am very fortunate to have at my disposal a beautiful golden beach. This time last year I was walking between 6 and 7 K’s on each walk. There are variations in conditions on the beach – some days the sand is flat and compacted and is very conducive to striding out. On other occasions the wind might pick up from the South and the sand is soft underfoot which makes walking a more challenging pursuit. But with these changes in conditions there was also available an awareness of the surroundings – to actually ‘be in’ this environment. Over these last wintry months the distances of my walks became much less than what I do in fine weather so with Mars Retro and the North Node invitation I have purposefully set about pushing myself to go that little bit further each day and to be aware of how and where I am putting my feet down uopn the planet.

Today with Venus (Ruler of Taurus) in the South Node I was tempted to return to my comfort zone – my couch lol – to take it easy. I am extremely good at being lazy and I fully recommend it – as part of any good Self Care regime – to pamper one’s self – but too many chocolates and our teeth fall out – right?. So with South Node planets (Venus, The Sun and the Trickster Mercury all) squaring Saturn – I made the extra effort and did my extra K’s – and went for a swim into Neptune’s Kingdom for good measure.

I say all of this seemingly trivial stuff as a prompt: to remind myself of what I am trying to do with the current North Node Taurus placement and associated energy. There is a tendency for us (did I hear me) as part of our choosing comfort, to become ‘Set in our ways’ – like the title of a Doobie Brothers Album “What were once vices are now Habits”. Like stealth undercover agents – habits sneak in on us virtually undetected. It takes a bit of self-awareness to notice these sneaky invaders and then it takes some willpower to act to change them – and given I don’t have any willpower and only a modicum of self-awareness – I have my work cut out to try to evade the Siren Song and become Set in my Ways. With this incredible Eclipse Scorpio energy – along with Mars Retro – we have the opportunity to go back into time and make some adjustments to some of our ‘actions’. We can consciously choose to leave behind ways of being – of interacting – that are no longer serving our personal evolution and by association the greater good. We can emerge from our cocoon having lived our former grub like existence: to use the Scorpionic Death energy to be Transformed into a the beautiful butterfly: a new life, a new way. My New Moon (in Scorpio) intentions included ‘acting upon’ aspects of self that I no longer wanted – it’s up to me to show my resolve to remain committed to my task, to treat my life, my world and the precious few that I share it with – with reverence, regard and respect. Love Emmett
